Patience is Gilbert & Sullivan's sparkling satire of fashion, vanity and celebrity, brought to life by Rockdale Opera Company in a vibrant new production.

Set in an idyllic English village, the operetta follows the lovestruck maidens who abandon their military admirers in favour of the melancholic poet Reginald Bunthorne—until the arrival of the impossibly perfect Archibald Grosvenor turns everyone's affections upside down. Filled with witty dialogue, memorable characters and some of Gilbert & Sullivan's most beloved music, Patience remains as entertaining and relevant today as when it premiered in 1881.

Rockdale Opera Company proudly presents the world premiere of a new Australian opera in a workshop performance of The Monk, a gothic chamber opera by Steven Stanke.

Inspired by Matthew Gregory Lewis’s notorious 1796 novel, The Monk is set in Madrid, where piety, desire, and the supernatural collide. This gripping tale centres on Ambrosio, a celebrated monk whose ironclad virtue begins to crumble when he confronts temptation in its most beguiling forms.

Rockdale Opera Company is excited to present Giuseppe Verdi's beautiful and timeless classic, La Traviata. It follows the story of Violetta, a high-class courtesan and her ardent but doomed love affair with Alfredo, the young and wealthy son from an influential family. From the infectious drinking song "Brindisi" and the joyous hedonism of Act I, to Violetta's heartbreak in Act II and the inevitable tragic ending, La Traviata continues to be one of the world's most-performed operas. And for good reason - passionate and emotional music, glittering and glamorous settings and a story that tugs at the heart.

Otto Nicolai's delightful comic opera, based on Shakespeare's beloved play, follows the outrageous schemes of the boastful Sir John Falstaff as he attempts to woo two wealthy married women with identical love letters. But Mistress Ford and Mistress Page are far too clever to be fooled, joining forces to teach the pompous knight a series of unforgettable lessons. Alongside the laughter, young lovers Anne and Fenton must overcome parental interference to find their own happy ending.

Filled with sparkling melodies, witty ensembles and irresistible humour, The Merry Wives of Windsor is a joyous celebration of love, friendship and the triumph of quick thinking over vanity.

Rockdale Opera Company proudly presents Lucia di Lammermoor, Gaetano Donizetti's iconic bel canto masterpiece and one of the most powerful tragedies in the operatic repertoire.

Set amidst the windswept Scottish Highlands, the opera tells the story of Lucia Ashton, a young woman caught between love and loyalty as her family becomes embroiled in a bitter feud with the rival Ravenswood clan. Forced into an unwanted marriage and driven by heartbreak and betrayal, Lucia's emotional unraveling leads to one of opera's most celebrated and haunting scenes.

Featuring soaring melodies, breathtaking vocal virtuosity, and deeply moving drama, Lucia di Lammermoor is a timeless tale of passion, sacrifice, and the devastating consequences of family conflict.
