The Merry Wives of Windsor

Otto Nicolai's delightful comic opera, based on Shakespeare's beloved play, follows the outrageous schemes of the boastful Sir John Falstaff as he attempts to woo two wealthy married women with identical love letters. But Mistress Ford and Mistress Page are far too clever to be fooled, joining forces to teach the pompous knight a series of unforgettable lessons. Alongside the laughter, young lovers Anne and Fenton must overcome parental interference to find their own happy ending. Filled with sparkling melodies, witty ensembles and irresistible humour, The Merry Wives of Windsor is a joyous celebration of love, friendship and the triumph of quick thinking over vanity.
