70th Anniversary Gala Concert - November 18, 2018
There was plenty to celebrate at our 70th Anniversary Gala concert, with a house virtually sold out, amazing repertoire and fabulous singing by our stars, soloists and ROC ensemble. We were privileged that past ROC alumni Robert Gard and Geoffrey Chard were in attendance and cut the cake.

ALEC FISHER'S HISTORICAL ALBUM
Rockdale Opera Company wish to acknowledge the generosity of Frances Dick and the Fisher Family, for the donation of their Uncle Alec’s (pictured right) photograph albums, documenting his many years with the Company.
This very valuable bequest, including photos, programs, reviews and newspaper articles, gives a comprehensive pictorial history of Rockdale’s productions from 1959 to the 1980s.
The collection will eventually be housed in ROC’s archives in the new Rockdale Library. A small sample of the pics are in the gallery below, we will be adding more to the gallery over the next few weeks!

A note from the Fisher Family:
Alec Fisher was born on 21st October, 1910 in Croydon, Surrey, England. He enlisted in the Regular British Army and served in the Medical Corps in various countries in both Europe and Asia during the Second World War. When he was demobilised at the end of the war, he chose to emigrate to Australia. One of his brothers was already in Australia and he was later joined by his youngest brother and his elderly parents.
Alec had many varied interests, including flying small planes, motor cycle racing, car rallies and acting as the navigator in many yachting events. He also travelled extensively. As well as these outdoor activities, he was an avid member of the Rockdale Opera Company and participated in many operettas, operas and Gilbert and Sullivan productions. His interest in photography provided an extensive collection of memories of these events over a period of 25 years.
“Uncle Alec” never married but was always a very welcome visitor to his brother's families. He is fondly remembered for his sense of humour, funny jokes, amazing magic tricks and movies of his travels. He passed away in the early 1990s and is sadly missed by his family. It is wonderful to think that the many photographs he took while he was a member of the Rockdale Opera Company will be viewed and appreciated by so many people in the years to come.
